Redland City Council has launched a free initiative providing on-demand sports equipment access in two local parks, Beth Boyd Park and Raby Esplanade Park, to promote outdoor activity. In partnership with SportsBox, equipped by Decathlon, the lockers will be available for trial until October 2026. Users can hire various sports equipment, such as footballs and basketballs, via a smartphone app and QR code at the lockers. This effort aims to reduce cost barriers to sports participation, encouraging community engagement and exercise close to home.
